We've all sat in our standard day to day lives and daydreamed about far away white sandy beaches, the chilled life and endless good times. By coming to Australia on a backpacking adventure and exploring the east coast this all becomes a very real awesome reality...

Below are some spots you can't miss!

The Great Barrier Reef, Cairns

Snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef

Now, we've all seen Finding Nemo, right? Well the famous Great Barrier Reef is even more incredible in person, with beautiful corals, turtles, hundreds of fish and even a shark or two, you will be blown away by this underwater world accessible on a short boat ride from Cairns. So, pop on your snorkel and flippers and try and search for Nemo and Dory, they are hiding there somewhere, trust me!

Magnetic Island, Townsville

Exploring Magnetic Island in a Barbie Car

Maggie Island - a stunning place where rock wallabies roam, koalas chill in the trees, everyone drives around in pink topless cars and it's perfectly acceptable to dance on the table in Base all night long! This island is unlike any you've seen before, jump in a Barbie car and explore what it has to offer, from beautiful beaches to unreal lookout points, you'll be glad you jumped on that ferry from Townsville!

The Whitsundays, Airlie Beach

Chillin' on Whitehaven Beach

I don't know about you but, I've stared at my Whitehaven beach laptop wallpaper for days. This stunning group of islands is an absolute must for any ultimate east coast trip. Never in your life will you see sand so white and sea so crystal clear! The best way to see it of course is on a sailing boat with 30 other backpackers while you spend your chilled days snorkelling, paddle boarding and seeing the famous Whitehaven Beach while spending the evenings moored up under the stars enjoying a few cups of goon with your new pals.

Fraser Island

Four Wheel Driving, Fraser Island

The worlds largest sand island and the provider of a very awesome couple of days! Opt to go on a 3 day, 2 Night 4WD tag along tour and you will experience a crazy time driving a 4-wheel drive along the sandy beaches and through the jungle. Become the DJ of your car and sort the soundtrack of the ultimate island road trip. You won't be able to resist swimming in some of Australia's most gorgeous natural spots such as Lake McKenzie, with water so clear you'll feel at peace in this beautiful tropical destination. Just keep an eye out for those dingos and sharks.

Byron Bay, NSW

Byron Bay Lighthouse

Hands up if you want to try a spot of surfing and experience the chilled hippy life? Well, in Byron, that's just everyday life. Head down to Byron Bay and enjoy the stunning sandy beaches, great surf, chilled vibes, vegan cafes, bongos by the beach at sunset and you'll see what Aussie life is all about. With the option to surf everyday and party every night, you'll find yourself caught up in the fun that is Byron Bay. A wander up to the lighthouse is a must and the legendary dolphin kayaking is an experience like no other!

A stop off in each of these places is sure to guarantee that your Australia adventure will be the best time of your life and will leave you wanting more.

All of these destinations are easy to get to by travelling with the Greyhound Hop On Hop Off pass, your easy method of transport where you will also meet great friends along the way.
