WHAT TO DO & SEE IN CANBERRA

HOW TO GET TO CANBERRA

With more than 180 stops across the country and services in all mainland states and territories, Greyhound is Australia’s largest coach network. Here are our most popular routes to Canberra!

HOW TO GET AROUND CANBERRA

Once your Greyhound bus to Canberra arrives at the Canberra Civic Coach Stop on West Row, you’ll find it’s a breeze to get around town, due to the strategic town planning that went into its creation.

Most of Canberra’s major attractions – including Parliament House, the National Gallery of Australia, National Museum of Australia, Australian War Memorial and Questacon, the national science and technology centre – surround Lake Burley Griffin, and are all within walking distance of one another. You can take a self-guided walking tour to explore Canberra and its scenic surrounds!

Canberra also has an extensive bike lane network, with cycling paths throughout the city, as well as off-road mountain bike trails. You can hire a bike and use your pedal-power to see Canberra.

Canberra has an extensive inner-city public bus service called ACTION, which connects all of the city’s suburbs and major tourist attractions. ACTION buses use the MyWay smartcard prepaid ticketing system; MyWay cards can be purchased from 30 recharge agents around the city.

To plan your trip around Canberra with ACTION, you can use their Journey Planner.

There are also a number of taxi services that operate within Canberra – these can be hailed on the street or at taxi ranks, or by pre-ordering over the phone and online. Pre-ordering is recommended if you have more than four passengers, to ensure a suitably sized vehicle is available.
