WHAT TO DO & SEE IN DALY WATERS

DALY WATERS PUB

This historic pub is one of the oldest buildings in the Northern Territory – and one of its most famous watering holes. Marvel at the thousands of memorabilia left behind by visitors from across the world, tuck in to their iconic Beef & Barra, and enjoy the free live music every night.

DALY WATERS AVIATION COMPLEX

It might be hard to believe, but this tiny town in the middle of nowhere was actually home to Australia’s first international airport! The hangar features interesting facts, photos and equipment from its former glory days.

TIM'S JUNKYARD

Once you’ve finished ogling at the bras over the bar, duck across the road from the pub and check out Tim’s Junkyard. The corrugated shed joins onto the Outback Servo and is chock-a-block with a private collection of vintage motor vehicles and other oddments.

STUART TREE

The explorer John McDouall Stuart is presumed to have carved the initial S on this tree on 23 May 1862 during his successful journey from Adelaide to Darwin. Warning: you will probably be looking for a long time if you hope to still see the S.

HOW TO GET AROUND DALY WATERS

Once your Greyhound bus to Daly Waters arrives at the Hi-Way Inn on the Stuart Highway, you might like to give the Daly Waters Pub a call to get a lift into town. Otherwise, you can walk the 8km. Once there you’ll find everything is within walking distance.
